The stock market in the United States (including the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and Nasdaq Stock Market (Nasdaq)) is open from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Eastern Time on weekdays, except for stock market holidays. The start and end of these sessions are commonly referred to as the “market open” and “market close.” The regular trading hours at the NYSE also are the most active period for trading within a 24-hour time period. Stock markets in other countries are open at different times.
